Overhead cables to go underground before Commonwealth Games

All overhead cables in and around Delhi will be moved underground before the Commonwealth Games next year, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said in Lok Sabha Tuesday.

He was answering a question on the capital's dilapidated roads, uncovered manholes, drains and hanging wires.

Chidambaram said the government has instructed the Delhi Jal Board to cover the missing manholes.

He said in the last four years, eight cases of accidental death by falling in manholes have been reported in the city.
