MCD to buy 14 new fogging machines

Gearing up to combat vector-borne diseases like dengue ahead of the Commonwealth Games, MCD is planning to procure 14 vehicle-mounted fogging machines to prevent breeding of mosquitoes in the city.

The civic body at present has 10 vehicle-mounted thermal fogging machines but there is a need to purchase more such equipment to intensify anti-mosquito measures, officials said. ‘‘There is one machine each in 10 other MCD zones, but we require at least two each for all the 12 zones to intensify fogging during peak dengue transmission season. That is why a proposal was made to purchase 14 machines,’’ officials further said.
