Hurriyat asks Kashmiris abroad to stage protests during CWG

The Hurriyat Conference on Tuesday appealed to Kashmiris living abroad to stage peaceful protests during the Commonwealth Games in October to draw attention of the world community towards the "grave situation" prevailing in the valley.

"In the run up to the event, Games Torch is travelling from country to country from May 15. Kashmiris living abroad, should organise peaceful protests to convince world about ... problems in Jammu and Kashmir," a statement from Chairman of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, said.

Geelani also appealed to the heads of Commonwealth countries to help Kashmiris on humanitarian grounds and use their good offices to resolve the Kashmir issue.
